The City of Lacombe is pleased to announce Guy Lapointe has been promoted to director of community services.

“City council is excited to see Guy Lapointe take on this new role with the City of Lacombe as director of community services,” Mayor Grant Creasey said in a press release.

“Lapointe’s commitment to our community and the well-being of our citizens has been proven for over a decade. Council looks forward to working with Lapointe to provide a high quality of life in Lacombe for years to come.”

Lapointe comes into the position after a ten-year tenure as the city’s manager of community economic development, where he worked with his team, cross-departmentally and with user groups to achieve many key city initiatives.

Lapointe will continue to build on the relationships he has forged in the City of Lacombe, while working to grow, diversify and expand opportunities in the Community Services Division, which includes Parks, Recreation, and Culture, the Lacombe Memorial Centre, the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre, the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex, marketing, communications and community economic development.

”I am excited to take on this new role and feel privileged to serve this community and council,” said Lapointe. “As always, I am committed to fostering positive change and look forward to the new opportunities this position offers.”

The internal interview process for the director of community services was rigorous. All candidates demonstrated knowledge, passion and expertise in their existing roles and for the leadership and future direction for the Community Services division.
