Professional Wrestling is returning to the Blackfalds Abbey Centre when the Central Alberta stars of the Canadian Wrestling Coalition (CWC) take on the Edmontonian Stud Stable for control of the company.

“We have Total Control on June 10th at the Abbey Centre,” said organizer and wrestler Dylon Featherstone.

“Our main event is Team CWC against the Stud Stable. This will be for control of the company, Paris Austin (of Stud Stable) - all he does is interfere, so Bob Gordon is putting up the CWC Commissioner title against the Stud Stable.”

The introduction of Stud Stable wrestlers has been part of the CWC’s considerable growth over the last two years, according to Featherstone.

“We are bringing in guys from B.C., Winnipeg - we are becoming a western Canadian Company,” he said, adding that administering the growth is part of ensuring that CWC continues to stay true to its Central Alberta roots.

“It is all logistics,” he explained. “It is like anything. This is a real business and we are dealing with staff. We are trying to become very efficient with what we do. It is not just, ‘Hey guys, we are putting on a rastlin’ show today.”

Featherstone explained that the result of bringing in talent from all over the country is the continued improvement of home-grown talent.

“Steel sharpens steel, and we are bringing in the best wrestlers from all across the country,” Featherstone said. “We will be bringing in guys like Santino Marella (former WWE Superstar) in a couple months.”

Despite the growth, Featherstone said that it is important that the company remains an inexpensive option for families around the Red Deer area.

“Nothing for $15 per person will bring your family this much excitement,” he said.

“We have people flying off the top rope, we have drama, we have excitement, we have everything you would look for in a Saturday night. This is the one-stop shop for pro-wrestling in Central Alberta.”

Featherstone hopes that the CWC will continually improve in order to inspire their crowds.

“You have to come up with something bigger, better and newer every time,” he said.

“You can’t be doing the same stuff over again because that is when the product gets stale. Every night - not only do we have a competition with each other to have the best match - we are having the competition with ourselves to have the best match we can possibly put on.”

Featherstone noted that the CWC is also continually working with local charities.

“We are always working with the MS Society, the Fight Against Child Abuse; we are also doing some work before the show with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and we will also be doing the Summer Clash Against Cancer with the Alberta Cancer Fund.”

Tickets are available for the Saturday, June 10th Abbey Centre Show at cwcwrestling.ca for $15 per ticket. You can also pick up your ticket at the door. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

“It is an event you don’t want to miss - June 10th at the Abbey Centre - and you can find more information on our web site at cwcwrestling.ca,” Featherstone said.
