George Brown

George Brown, born in Edinburgh, Scotland came to Toronto, Canada and enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in July, 1915.

George Brown, born in Edinburgh, Scotland came to Toronto, Canada and enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in July, 1915.

He fought with the France 75th Infantry Battalion until his discharge in August 1919. In 1918 he was granted furlough to marry Maria Armstrong in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Upon discharge George and Maria arrived in Toronto and then proceeded to Bentley, Alta. where George was a bank clerk with the Merchant’s Bank of Canada. In 1921 this bank amalgamated with the Bank of Montreal and George continued to work for them in various branches until he retired.
