Grand Opening for Prairie Dog Sports Inc. near Blackfalds

8,900 square foot dog training facility located just outside of Blackfalds

This past cold, snowy Saturday did not keep people from attending the grand opening March 14 of the 8,900 square foot dog training facility located just outside of Blackfalds.

Michelle Eadie, owner/operator, of Prairie Dog Sports Inc., welcomed those in attendance, telling of her dream to have a multi-training facility for dogs and handlers of all skill levels and ages.

Paula Law, Lacombe County Reeve, commented on how exciting it was to have a facility of this caliber in Lacombe County and wished Michelle all the best for it’s success.

Eadie noted this is the only facility in Alberta that has a North American Dock Diving (NADD) approved competition pool and it is indoors, enabling competitors to train year round. Eadie is also qualified to offer swim therapy for dogs.

After the ribbon cutting, 15 dogs and their owners demonstrated six of the many popular dog sports offered at the facility: agility, barn hunt, dock diving, obedience, Frisbee and tricks.

Those watching were awed by the dog teams and laughed when a dog decided to do it’s own “demo” much to the chagrin of their owner.

Prairie Dog Sports Inc.’s goal is to create a fun exciting and engaging experience for everyone who steps through their door. They are able to offer a variety of classes, drop-ins and seminars that cater to everyone’s needs and schedules.
