Library Corner Let your creativity flower

Whether in flower arrangements or flowery language, May blossoms will soon be springing up everywhere. We’ve got programs planned for all your blooming creativity.

Create a beautiful floral arrangement in a teacup with the team from Vintage Thistle on Tuesday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m. With their detailed, easy-to-follow instructions, you’ll come away with the perfect gift for someone special in your life, or for yourself. The cost is $30 per person and spots are limited. Call the library to pre-register. Ages 18+.

It takes more than flowery language to tell a good story.

Fiction is all about putting your character up a tree and then throwing rocks at them. Rocks in the form of challenges. Master the art at this month’s Writing Workshop with Red Deer author, Leslie Greentree on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m.

Dig into what drives your characters, mash that together with their goals, and see how much fun plotting can be. Get the book that’s been lurking inside you for years written down! Adults interested in writing should pre-register for this interactive workshop. Bring your laptop or other writing utensils.

Have you bought your ticket yet for the Mother’s Day Quilt Raffle? There’s still time to buy a chance to win this beautiful book quilt sewn and donated by the Stettler Stitchers before Thursday, May 9 at 4 pm when the lucky winner will be announced live on Facebook. Tickets are $5 each, available from any of the Friends of the Library or at the library.

Unfortunately, life is not all sunshine and roses. Sometimes you need to defend yourself and the Stettler Public Library has the workshop for you on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m.
