Tyler Kirbyson, son of John and Heather Kirbyson and grandson of John and Vicky Kirbyson, of Lacombe, served in the Infantry of the Canadian Armed Forces from 2007-2010.
While serving in Afghanistan, the vehicle Tyler was driving hit an improvised explosive devise, leaving him with many injuries including amputation of his lower left leg.
Tyler was awarded the Campaign Star medal for his service in Afghanistan and the Sacrifice medal for injuries he sustained there. Tyler was honourably discharged in 2010.
