Woofs & Laughs Comedy Night promises to tickle the funny bone of Lacombe and area residents — all in support of the Saving Grace Animal Society.
The event, which will be held on Friday, March 6 at the Lacombe Memorial Centre, is the second annual event and will feature the comedic chops of James Uloth, along with guests Matt Foster and Steve McGovern.
“It is our second annual Comdedy Night called Woofs and Laughs.It is a comedy show with three acts of professional comedians put on by the Raise the Woof Tour. It includes a dinner from Leto’s Steakhouse in Lacombe and then the show goes on. We also have a silent auction and some raffles as well,” Amanda McClughan, development director for Saving Grace Animal Society, said.
The charity comedy night came after Uloth and his team contact Saving Grace two years ago.
“Raise the Woof reached out to us and they are a comedy tour that works with a lot of non-profits to help them raise money. They let us know they would be in our area and they would love to work with us. We got on board with them,” McClughan said.
The show helps Saving Grace provide vital care for animals including being the go-to society for 24/7 emergency calls, rescuing animals all over Alberta and in to Saskatchewan.
“Last year we raised a little over $10,000 and this year we are hoping to raise at least that more. If we can raise a little more, closer to $15,000 that would be awesome,” McClughan said.

“We are still selling tickets and we have about 65 tickets left. We are selling 200 in total,” McClughan said.
The show is also looking for corporate sponsorship.
“We are looking for event sponsors and we are looking for raffle sponsors. All of those have different dollar amounts attached to them, so anywhere from $20 to $1,000. That really helps us out. We are also looking for silent auction donations,” McClughan said.
The show also is in need of volunteers.
“We could use two to four more volunteers. We also are asking people to spread the word so that we can sell out. That would be awesome,” she said.
