Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is now accepting applications for its three award programs that recognize and support women.
Live Your Dream awards are granted to a woman who has primary financial responsibility for herself and her dependents, is enrolled or attending an undergraduate degree program or skills/training program, with a financial need. These cash awards enable women to offset costs associated with their education. Applications are available from Melody Klinck at melody@inspiringvirtues.ca.
The Violet Richardson Award is a recognition program for young women ages 14 to 17 engaged in volunteer action in their communities or schools. Projects that benefit women and girls are especially valued. The club presents $500 to the winner and $500 to the charity of her choice. Applications are available from Robyn Devine at soroptimist_robyn@icloud.com.
The Ruby Award honours women making extraordinary differences in the lives of other women. Some women work to improve conditions for women and girls through their personal or volunteer efforts; others do so through professional avenues. Award applications are available from Sherri Smith at rubyawardsoroptimist@gmail.com.
The deadline for all award applications is Dec.31.
Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is part of a global member organization that provides women and girls with the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
Other Soroptimist projects and events include the Central Alberta Purple Light Nights domestic violence awareness project, the Power of a Girl conference, Period Poverty advocacy, International Women’s Day event, and the recent Spread Your Wings award for indigenous women.
