Playoffs are underway in the North Central Senior AA Hockey League.

The Innisfail Eagles and the Lacombe Generals are set to re-engage in their rivalry this weekend in the North Central Senior AA Hockey League Vanberg Cup finals.

The Generals swept the Stony Plain Eagles in the best-of-five series, winning Game 3 3-2 on Feb. 28. Both Troy Maclise and Jamie Johnson had a goal and an assist, and Luke Coleman also tallied for the Generals, while captain Jordan Ceh and Grayson Pawlenchuk replied for the Eagles. Generals goalie Mack Engel made 37 saves in the win, while Eagles Wyatt Hoflin stopped 33 saves in the loss.

The Generals are set to play in their fourth straight Vanberg Cup.

Innisfail won Game 2 and 3 in overtime against the Wetaskiwin Longhorns, but gave themselves much more breathing room in Game 4 with a 4-1 victory Sunday on home ice.

Chance Longjohn scored twice for Innisfail, while Mike Marianchuk and Dave Nippard also added goals. Justin Faryna scored the lone goal for the Longhorns who lost three games in a row for the first time this season.

Longhorns goalie Devin Buffalo did all he could, making 45 saves in the loss. Chance Griffth made 24 saves in the win for Innisfail.
