Good things come to those who wait and theatre fans will be excited to hear their patience has paid off.
The Cow Patti Theatre Company has announced their return for their 26th-25th year. It’s a confusing thing but it’s easily explained with on word: COVID.
Like many things, COVID cancelled the Cow Patti Theatre Company’s 2020/2021 season, which was supposed to be the company’s 25th year of entertaining Lacombe.
“We decided last June to celebrate this season (2021/2022) as our 25th season,” says AnnaMarie Lea, Producing Director with Cow Patti Theatre Company. “We have put everything in place to make it our biggest and most boisterous season yet!”
The company has spent the past few months planning this season and with the fourth wave crashing down on Albertans, Lea was afraid this season might be a no go as well.
“I became nervous, not for just what could happen to our season but what could happen with all the contractual engagements for our casts, crews, caterers, playwrights and local business we work with,” says Lea. Luckily with a new Restrictions Exemption Program in place, they are able to continue on with the season.
“The Canadian talent we have gathered for this season is simply stellar,” says Lea. “Including Mr. Norm Foster himself , Canada’s most produced playwright and recipient of the Order of Canada.”
The company will put on four different shows (Sugar Road, On a First Name Basis, Sweet Dreams The Music of Patsy Cline and Jonas & Barry In the Home) in two different locations from November until May.
“We will rouse massive amounts of laughter with incredible characters and amusing, engaging stories,” promises Lea. “Our wild and wacky theatre family is about to spin many a yarns.”
“The theatre is a place we gather, to enjoy, to share, to learn, to open our hearts and tell stories to escape the madness and laugh out loud.”
The season kicks off in November and wraps up in April, 2022.
Tickets can be purchased online at cowpatti.com.
Cow Patti theatre will be operating under the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) so they ask that anyone coming to the theatre have proof of vaccinations or a negative test result ready to make admission easier.
