Officials with the Town of Blackfalds have announced a census will be held this year.
The online census starts on May 6 and door-to-door visits with census enumerators will take place from May 21 – July 26, according to a release.
Residents will receive their exclusive Census SAC (Security Access Code) by May 10 via delivery by enumerators.
This unique and secure SAC is specific to Blackfalds addresses and is required to complete the census online.
Residents who complete their census online by May 20 will be added to a draw for a chance to win one of two gift card bouquets to Blackfalds businesses ($500 value/each).
Following SAC delivery, enumerators will visit residents between May 21 and July 26 who have not completed the census online.
Authorized by the town, enumerators are responsible for confidential collection and will be wearing a Town of Blackfalds photo identification badge along with branded vests.
Those who are interested in becoming enumerators can apply for multiple temporary positions at blackfalds.ca/census for details.
By doing a census, the municipality can use the information to assist in planning for the community’s needs, such as future roads, the addition and location of schools, parks, utilities, protective, fire, and other services, including grant requirements.
Contact the census office at 403-885-6350 or email census@blackfalds.ca if you would like assistance filling out a census, if you have any questions, or if you would like to report an issue.
