Greetings to the community, over the past while we have been a very active club.
In December many of our projects did not meet up due to the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. We did however have a fantastic Christmas party. For our Christmas party we had a gingerbread-house making competition.
Members were split into groups and given materials to make amazing gingerbread houses to be judged and to win the grand prize of a big Toblerone bar. The creativity of the members was unique and intricate. There was even a house with a hot tub. We partook in a gift exchange and sang Christmas carols to get into the holiday spirit.
We met on Jan. 22, for our club meeting and it was followed by project days for some of the project groups. Project group reports will be given at our next club meeting on March 19.
On Feb. 5, we had our annual public speaking at the Ponoka secondary campus. There were 21 junior, 14 intermediate and seven senior members that spoke.
Thank you to all the judges, tellers and emcees that attended the event, to help make it a great day.
All the members spoke extremely well and had very interesting speeches. The members that placed and will be moving onto zones were juniors first place, Sam Strohschein and second place, Abigale Villeneuve. The intermediates were first place, Caleb Strohschein and second place Isabella Sweet. The senior’s first-place winner was Kolton Hoogland and second-place Charlotte Cutts.
Our club was the host for Central Zone Public Speaking, which was held at the Lincoln Hall on Feb. 28. There were speakers from Rimbey 4-H beef club and Ponoka west 4-H beefclub that joined us for the day. The placings for the day were junior first-place, Sam Strohschein, and second-place, Faith Lentz. For the intermediates, it was first-place for Caleb Stohschein and second-place, Isabella Sweet. Seniors were first-place, Jordyn Valstar, second-place, Kolton Hoogland. These members will move on to districts. Good luck to everyone.
It has been a few months of action packed 4-H adventures, with more to come in the months coming up.
