In partnership with General Lee Aviation, the Lacombe Flying Club/COPA Flight #155 is inviting people to participate in the Discover Aviation event on June 7 at the Lacombe Regional Airport.
The event will start at 8:30 a.m. with flights planned to start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m., said club member and director Justine Thompson.
"This exciting event offers local youth between the ages of 8-18 the unforgettable opportunity to experience their first flight in a small plane for free, starting with a brief ground school with one of General Lee Aviation's flight instructors."
In addition to getting the chance to fly with one of the flight instructors, attendees will be able to enjoy a charity BBQ supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters, a flight simulator, a bouncy castle, lawn games, and more.
"We hope to inspire the next generation of aviators," Thompson said.
Free flights require registration.
Registration for the event will open on May 9 at 12 p.m. and remain open until spots are filled.
To register, individuals can go to the website, discoveraviation.org/CEG3/.
"Remaining activities are open to the public to come and enjoy," Thompson said.
If the weather is bad on June 7, the event will be pushed to June 8.
