A fire advisory for all of Lacombe County was put in effect on June 2.
The fire advisory was put in place due to the warmer weather and the dry and windy conditions, which have elevated the wildfire risk throughout the province.
Currently, Lacombe County will still continue to issue fire permits for minor burns; however, permits for large-scale burn activities will not be approved until conditions improve.
During a fire advisory, many things are still allowed, including:
- Safe campfires
- Small, permitted burns
- Bylaw-compliant backyard fire pits
- Portable propane fire pits
- Gas or propane stoves and barbecues
- Catalytic or infrared-style heaters
During the fire advisory, it is also important to keep some safety reminders in mind, including:
- Off-Highway Vehicles can start wildfires, frequently check to ensure hotspots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly
- Never leave a campfire unattended
- Safely dispose of cigarette butts
- Check previously completed burns to ensure they are fully extinguished

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve and may be upgraded to a fire restriction or a fire ban at any time.
