Lacombe Days is right around the corner and is set to be a fun celebration.
Lacombe Days takes place from July 11 to July 13 and celebrates the City of Lacombe.
While there will be many returning activities, including the annual parade, there will also be many new ones, festival coordinator Jess Zylstra said.
"We're excited to introduce several new additions for 2025. The AAFC Lacombe Research and Development Centre will be hosting a special open house event. Also on Friday, EcoVision from LCHS will be offering tours of their student-led program and running workshops on jam making and honey processing."
Additionally, on Friday, the Lacombe Filipino Community Association will, for its second year, bring back its multicultural market.
"Saturday brings a lot of hands-on fun for families, including drone races with DroneBuzz and an expanded Kids Corral featuring Ctrl V virtual reality, Fun Haus inflatables, and the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, along with returning favourites like Nerf Wars and face painting," Zylstra said.
"We’re also welcoming back Stones and Bones, where visitors can bring artifacts to be reviewed by archaeologists and paleontologists. And throughout the weekend, Blindman Brewing will be running a satellite patio downtown, offering a great place to relax and enjoy the festival vibe."
Throughout the event, there are nearly 50 free or low-cost events planned, Zylstra said.
"The weekend is packed with activities, performances, food, and family fun. We have events throughout the weekend, including Sunday, so be sure to check the full schedule online or in the booklets distributed around Lacombe to plan your visit."
Lacombe Days is a true community event that provides residents a chance to come together, connect with neighbours, support local groups, and enjoy everything Lacombe has to offer.
"Whether you are volunteering, hosting an event, or just coming out to enjoy the weekend, it is a great way to be part of something that brings people together and showcases the spirit of Lacombe," Zylstra said.
Lacombe Days also wouldn't be possible without the sponsors and local businesses, she added.
"Their support plays a huge role in making Lacombe Days possible. We truly appreciate how eager the business community is to get involved, whether it is through sponsorship, volunteering, or providing services, and it shows how much pride this city has in coming together to celebrate."
