Lacombe County council approved funding of up to $8,600 to go towards the Mirror Association for the ball diamond, campground, and skating rink's fence replacement project.

The project will establish boundaries for the west ball diamond, similar to those previously established for the east diamond.

The funding for this project comes from the County's Recreation Capital Assistance Reserve.

Mirror is a hamlet in Lacombe County, and their ball diamond is a Lacombe County facility, manager of corporate services, Michael Minchin said.

"Lacombe County is committed to enhancing the quality of life and well-being of its citizens. To accomplish this, the county will ensure that its citizens have access to quality recreation, cultural facilities, and programs through partnerships and by providing financial and in-kind support to organizations for the construction, renovation, and repair of community, public-use recreation and cultural facilities.

"This project will allow Mirror to host larger tournaments and meet a growing need in that area," he added.

Lacombe County will also be managing the project and providing the Association's $8,600 share upfront.

"The county will manage the project, with the prep being done by county staff and fence installation being done by a contractor," Minchin said.

The Association will repay its 50 per cent share at a rate of $1,000 per year starting later this year.
