Organizers behind the second annual Lacombe Game Convention, held earlier this month, are pleased with how the event turned out.
Held at the Lacombe Memorial Centre on Aug. 17-18, the event featured loads of activities for those in attendance to check out and enjoy.
"It exceeded expectations again this year, like it actually did last year as well," said primary organizer Levi Derowin, adding that in 2023, about. 150 people were in attendance.
"This year, we thought we could maybe hover around the 150 to 200 mark, and we ended up with 267 who pre-registered."
Add the number of folks who dropped in to check out the convention, and that number climbed to about 350, he said. "From noon until 6 p.m. our vendors were open in the County Room. Throughout the day on both days, we had our (various) being held upstairs, too."
"Our main games were all held in the Centennial Hall."
Derowin, whose interest in the gaming world goes back many years, also has plenty of experience with running various clubs through the library, having started the chess club and eventually the Pokeman club as well.
As to the recent convention, he said the feedback was really encouraging as many mentioned how well done it was, and also that it was a great thing to have here in Lacombe.
