Lacombe's Marvin Ziegler had stopped at a gas station on his way to the grocery store when he took a moment to check his lottery tickets.

“I usually buy LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 on a regular basis,” he explained.  “I scanned my LOTTO MAX ticket and thought I’d won $2,500 which I was really excited about.”

He said the cashier checked it and told him it was actually $250,000. “I think they were even more excited than me!”

Ziegler went straight home to tell his wife.

“She asked if I’d got the groceries because I wasn’t holding any,” he laughed. “I just stood there with
the ticket and told her we’d won $250,000!”

The two celebrated together and started to plan what they would do with the windfall. “We’re thinking maybe a Las Vegas trip,” Ziegler said. “It feels really good!”

Ziegler purchased his winning ticket ticket from the Red Deer Casino at 3310 - 50
Ave.
