New assistant principal appointed for Iron Ridge Secondary Campus

Joe McQuay is the new Assistant Principal of Iron Ridge Secondary Campus (IRSC) for the 2025/2026 school year.

To his new role, McQuay brings a strong commitment to student success, school spirit, and collaborative leadership. 

At IRSC, McQuay teaches mathematics and physical education and is also the school's athletic director. 

Prior to joining Wolf Creek Public Schools, he taught at Hunting Hills High School in Red Deer and Alix M.A.C. School. 

"Joe brings passion, commitment, and a collaborative spirit to this leadership role," Assistant Superintendent of People Services Sonja Dykslag said. 

"His dedication to serving the Blackfalds community and building a positive and supportive school culture will make a meaningful impact at Iron Ridge Secondary Campus."

Currently, McQuay is enrolled in the WCPS Aspiring Leaders program and recently completed his Master of Education degree from St. Francis Xavier University, with a focus on Administration and Policy. 

"I am excited and honoured to join the administrative team at IRSC," McQuay said.

"As a member of this community, I am committed to working alongside students, staff, and families to build a strong, supportive, and thriving school culture."
