Lacombe-based Nowco Home Hardware has opened up The Loft, a new shopping area on the upper mezzanine of the store that features a range of home-oriented specialty items.

“The Loft is our new shopping area — we have opened up the mezzanine in our historic building for people to experience and to shop,” said Deanna Nowochin, dealer-owner of Nowco Home Hardware along with her husband Tyler.

The area is primarily about home expression, and Deanna said the couple wanted to even take it beyond that.

“We have given it its own identity, which we are calling The Loft. We have giftware, art, home decor, and bath and body products. At the top of the stairs, we also have five ‘vignettes’. One if for the guys — we call it the ‘man den’,” she explained.

Another vignette features an array of candles and other specialty items, the third one is filled with products for bathrooms, and the fourth vignette is focused on children and babies.

“The fifth vignette, right now, is merchandised with nautical items because that is popular with home decor. And then the rest of the area up here has bedding, pillows, lamps, furniture, products for pets, and a lot of treats,” she said, adding that planning for the space essentially started in early November.

An early look at The Loft was held on March 14, and now it’s completely open for business, she said.
