Overflow turnout for Lacombe Remembrance Day services

There was an overflow crowd for this year's Remembrance Day ceremonies held at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.

Held under the direction of the Royal Canadian Legion Lacombe Branch #79, the day started off with a pancake breakfast at the Legion.

Highlights of the service included messages from several local dignitaries, performances of the The Last Post by Gerald Ganson, followed by two minutes of silence. Ganson also performed Lament and Rouse.

Other service highlights included the Act of Remembrance, the Commitment to Prayer, and a recitation of In Flanders Fields by the Girl Guides.

The benediction was delivered by Pastor Rebecca Hall of Woody Nook Church. Of course, the laying of wreaths was a key part of the event as well.

Following the service, veterans and the public were invited to the Legion for a time of socialization.
