Ryan Birch has been appointed the new Principal of Alix M.A.C. School for the 2025/2026 school year.
Prior to this appointment, Birch worked for more than two decades in education, and has held numerous leadership roles.
Since 2002, Burch has been with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools, and since 2016, he has held leadership roles at St. Francis of Assisi Middle School, Ecole Secondaire Notre Dame High School, and St. Teresa of Avila School.
In each of those roles, he led meaningful initiatives, including a Response to Intervention (RTI) program, innovative timetabling processes, a Professional Learning Community (PLC) structure, and a literacy intervention program.
"Ryan brings a wealth of experience and a proven commitment to student-centered leadership," said Sonja Dykslag, Wolf Creek Assistant Superintendent of People Services.
"His ability to foster collaboration, lead meaningful change, and build strong school cultures will be a tremendous asset to Alix M.A.C. School and to Wolf Creek Public Schools as a whole."
Birch has also worked in schools with programs that serve students with special needs, and is known for building strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
"I am honoured and excited to join the Alix M.A.C. School community," said Birch.
"I look forward to working alongside staff, students, and families to continue building a school environment rooted in trust, growth, and collaboration. Together, we can help each student achieve their full potential."
Birch will start his role as Principal at the beginning of the new school year this fall.
