Lacombe city council approved the 2024 Strategic Plan update during its last council meeting.
The 2024 Strategic Plan outlines the status and highlights the success of the council's priorities over the current term.
Updates to the Strategic Plan included items labelled as high-priority, which council identified during a prioritization workshop in 2024.
In 2024, six out of 14 Green High Priority items were completed, with two more slated to be finished in 2025 and the rest to be finished later.
"Council is pleased to receive the final Strategic Plan Update of the current term," Mayor Grant Creasey said.
"This document is a testament to hours of work from City staff, our community partners, and individuals all across our province. I am proud to say the majority of Council’s priorities (62 per cent) were realised, with many more initiatives to be completed in the coming years.”
The percentage of tasks that were finished based on council priorities in the original Strategic Plan includes:
- Growing the Community - 62 per cent complete
- Managing the Community's Resources - 55 per cent complete
- Supporting the Community - 66 per cent complete
- Building the Community - 64 per cent complete
The plan also includes many high-priority tactics some of which include, advocating for the further expansion of the Lacombe Lodge, further collaborating with the Downtown Area Redevelopment Committee to implement recommended projects, updating the City's Municipal Development Plan and Area Structure Plans to attract and retain investment, building a new public works facility, building a new fire hall, continuing to fund road maintenance sustainably, and strengthening community partnerships to expand recreation and social offerings in the community.
