Super Bowl fans can take in this year's game while supporting a worthy community cause on Feb. 9.

Lacombe Athletic Park Association (L.A.P.A.) is hosting a Super Bowl party at Boston Pizza with doors opening at 3 p.m. For $40, folks can enjoy an appy bar and a free beer courtesy of Blindman Brewery.

L.A.P.A. is the non-profit organization responsible for facility development as well as the ongoing operations of MEGlobal Athletic Park.

Meanwhile, the theme for this year's party is 'Mardi Gras'. Other highlights include a 50/50, a silent auction, and Football Squares. For tickets, email lacombeathleticpark@gmail.com or head to www.lacombeathleticpark.ca.

Diane Hayduk, L.A.P.A. spokesperson, said support shown for past fundraisers has led to helping make the exceptional facilities what they are today.

"We now have a fantastic facility here which people in Lacombe, and Central Alberta, use," she said. "A lot of teams come here, too, so our teams don't always have to travel out."

With the inclusion of an online auction at the party, she noted if some folks don't want to attend the party - but still want to support the cause - they can conveniently do so.

Ultimately, Hayduk said funds raised will go to not only helping cover operations, but towards further track development as well. It's all part of the 'Track to Triumph' campaign.

"Join the Track to Triumph campaign and help build a facility that will inspire our community for years to come!"

Monies raised at the party will also go to support other capital expenditures at the site. "We would like to add to the park," Hayduk said.

This past fall, L.A.P.A. hosted had a fundraising party for the Grey Cup, and in years past, the organization hosted a gala event at this time of year as well.

These days, parties like the upcoming event on Feb. 9 are proving a hit with the community.

"We have decided to do something a little more laid back."

Other ways to support the work to the facility's track include through the Community Foundation of Central Alberta.
