UPDATE: Blackfalds RCMP investigate armed robbery

Blackfalds RCMP have made an arrest in connection with the Nov. 11th robbery at the 7-11 in Blackfalds.

On Dec. 17, Blackfalds RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) and general duty members, with the help of Sylvan Lake GIS and Innisfail GIS, executed a search warrant at a residence in Red Deer.  

As a result of the search warrant, police seized items related to the robbery including masks, a shotgun, and a vehicle, according to a release.

RCMP has arrested and charged Red Deer resident 19-year-old Jackson Mackenzie Cann with;

- robbery with a firearm
- disguise with intent
- discharge a firearm with intent
- firearms offences (x6)

Cann was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Dec. 20 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

Despite this arrest, the investigation continues into identifying the second suspect.

On Nov. 11 at 12:36 a.m., Blackfalds RCMP responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm from the 7-11 located in Blackfalds.  

Two unidentified people in scream masks entered the store, threatened the staff and discharged a shotgun into the ceiling. The suspects left after taking cash from the till. The shotgun is described as having a  unique silver/stainless steel barrel.
