Keen to see more done to support mental health conversations with young people, August Burger of the Month guest chef Arnold Foster will touch many thanks to his ‘Pickle Chicken Mac’ burger.

Foster’s cause of choice is the Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation.

His hope is to see more open conversations around mental health with young people.

“Our youth especially need more support with their developing minds having an understanding of how to take care of their mental health just as they would their physical health.”

Smiles Thru Lindsey was founded in 2015 by Rick and Cindy More after their daughter Lindsey tragically took her own life.

Rick says his daughter wanted to help her peers who suffered from depression even before they knew Lindsey suffered from it. The Mores hope is to see the endowment fund bring aid to those who suffer for many years to come.

The Foundation is committed to providing mental health support and proactive, early intervention for youth in Red Deer.

Thanks to the support of central Albertans, the Foundation has donated over $40,000 to local school divisions for mental health first-aid training for educators.

The Foundation is also instrumental in the creation of the Central Alberta Child Advocacy

Center.

Thanks to the support of the beloved Burger of the Month Program, Foster helped to deliver $1,350 to the Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation on Sept. 6.

Thanks to the support for the Burger of the Month program month after month, Cilantro and Chive has had the opportunity to give back more than $140,000 to local charities over the past 79 months.

Meanwhile, the September Burger of the Month is ‘Michelle’s Pack-a-Lunch’, created in collaboration with local guest chef Michelle Grovet, Lacombe police school resource officer.

Two dollars from every burger sold goes to Grovet’s cause of choice, the Broom Tree Foundation.
