At the Regular Council Meeting on April 14, Town Council approved to move the outdoor rink currently located to the south of the Multi-Plex Arena to the north east side of Harvest Meadows\Willow Park.

With the highly anticipated Multi-Plex Expansion project beginning in the spring of 2020, the existing outdoor rink must be removed and re-located. After careful consideration by the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Board and public consultation at the March 12 Open House, it was decided that the outdoor rink be relocated to Harvest Meadows. This will provide the community with a total of two outdoor rinks, one east of Hwy 2A (Pine Crescent Park) and one on the west side.

“Council is appreciative of the work done by the Recreation, Culture and Parks Board and staff to determine the most suitable area for relocation,” stated Mayor Richard Poole. “By moving forward now, this new recreation opportunity will be opened when our summer ends and the hockey season begins.”

The Capital Budget for 2020 allocated $250,000 to dismantle the boards, pour a new concrete pad, and re-install the boards and fencing.

The outdoor rink is scheduled to be installed and ready for the fall of 2020.
