On July 18th, at approximately 6 p.m., Blackfalds Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU) pulled a vehicle over for speeding on Hwy. 11 near Nordegg.

The vehicle stop led to a drug seizure and charges against a Sherwood Park male and female. The roadside interaction drew the attention of Alberta Conservation Officers who stopped to provide support.

During the vehicle stop, it was determined that the licence plate on the unregistered and uninsured truck was stolen from the Edmonton area, and that the driver had an outstanding warrant for driving while disqualified. The driver was arrested on his outstanding warrant. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a controlled substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old male from Sherwood Park, has been charged with:

· Possession of stolen property under $5,000;

· Possession of a controlled substance;

· Driving while disqualified;

· Misuse of licence plate;

· Speeding;

· Unregistered vehicle; and

· Uninsured vehicle.

The lone passenger of the vehicle, a 36-year-old female from Sherwood Park, has been charged with:

· Possession of stolen property under $5000; and

· Possession of a controlled substance.

The RCMP wish to acknowledge the partnership of the two Alberta Conservation Officers patrolling near the incident who pulled over to provide backup to the ITU officer.
