Special ballots must be submitted by Oct. 15 and mail-in ballots must be returned to the Civic Centre by mail or via the drop-box no later than 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 18.

Voters across Alberta will head to the polls next week and the final push by candidates is under way.

The Municipal Election is on Monday, Oct. 18 and voting stations are open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Town of Blackfalds voting stations will be located at the Blackfalds Community Centre.

An online forum for Blackfalds candidates was held Oct. 13 and coverage for the event was not available at the time of press. Voters are encouraged to visit blackfaldschamber.ca to view the recorded version of the forum.

Two questions in the referendum vote will also be on the ballot.

One on equalization, should section 36(2) of the Constitution Act, 1982 – Parliament and the government of Canada’s commitment to the principle of making equalization payments – be removed from the constitution? The other on Daylight Saving Time, do you want Alberta to adopt year-round Daylight Saving Time, which is summer hours, eliminating the need to change our clocks twice a year?

Advanced Voting is available for the Town of Blackfalds Mayor, Councillors, School Board Trustees, Senate, and Referendum Questions. Advanced voting takes place at the Council Chambers in the Blackfalds Civic Cultural Centre.
