Businesses of the year announced at Chamber Awards Gala

The 2021 Lacombe & District Chamber of Commerce Awards were handed out last week at the annual Business and Community Awards Gala.

The 2021 Lacombe & District Chamber of Commerce Awards were handed out last week at the annual Business and Community Awards Gala.

Dutchess Flower Company was awarded Small Business of the Year, NOWCO Home Hardware was awarded Large Business of the Year and Dancer’s Edge Studio recieved the Business Resillience Award.

Three individuals from the community were also recognized through the Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and the People’s Choice for Customer Service. This year, the winner of the Lifetime Achievement award is Linda Kempt, Citizen of the Year is Diane Hayduk and Attema Farms was named Farm Family of the Year.

It was announced prior to the event that Mary C. Moore Public Library was awarded the Business Customer Service Award and Nadine Waterfield from Gift Smack Gift Company won the Individual Customer Service Award. Lacombe Performing Arts Centre Foundation won Not-for-Profit of the Year.

This year, due to COVID, the event was be held at four separate locations around Lacombe with digital streams of the nominees and awards.

Local businesses and individuals are nominated throughout May, June and July, once nominations are made, a selection committee reviews the nominations and selects businesses in the categories of Business of the Year, Farm Family of the Year, and Not-for-Profit of the Year.
