Central Alberta Christian High School (CACHS) recently broke ground for their new industrial arts building.

Several City dignitaries were on hand for the ground-breaking, including Lacombe Mayor Grant Creasey.

Currently, the school has been forced to outsource industrial arts learning to other facility however the new facility will allow CACHS students to remain on campus

“We had an arrangement with another school where we could have it as an offsite program but it isn’t ideal. That is no knock to the school we are cooperating with but it just doesn’t work and mesh well with scheduling,” CACHS Principal Pete Hoekstra said, adding the new facility will allow them to add a broader range of courses.

The new facility will cost $1.2 million, including tools and equipment and is scheduled to open in time for Sept. 4th, 2018 in time for the first day of school.

Hoekstra said this is something that was needed at CACHS.

“For many, it was something that has always been on their wish list and the support of our members turned that vision into a reality,” he said. “We realize kids that go through this school and then exit to the workforce need a broad range of skills and this enables us to provide something we weren’t able to before.

“We can meet their needs and also the needs of employers.”
