As the Christmas season quickly approaches, the Town of Blackfalds is embracing its Holiday spirit by inviting everyone to join the festivities on November 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tayles Water Spray Park.

Sponsored by Stantec, this is the first ever Light Up Blackfalds that will kick off in the afternoon with entertainment and activities leading into the countdown to Light Up Blackfalds.

“This event should be a must-see on everyone’s calendar,” states Mayor Richard Poole, adding, “The work and imagination that goes into this event is a source of pride and enjoyment and has become a major draw for visitors from in and around the community to come out and see the lights.”

The free event begins at 4:00 p.m. and will include a performance by Dancer’s Edge, Christmas carols by the Iron Ridge Junior Campus choir, a short speech by our sponsor Stantec and a few words from the chair of the Recreation, Culture & Parks Board who will start the countdown around 5:30 p.m.

There will be games provided by Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Dual Ice Development Society, Stantec giveaways, and vendors from the Blackfalds Market will be on site as well.

The event continues to evolve each year as Parks Superintendent Shaun Knowles’ creativity and vision comes to life through Lightorama programming; the park is designed to synchronize the music with the lights.

Work began on this project in October and will keep us in the holiday spirit well into January when it will be disassembled.

“It takes a lot of work and time to get the timing just right, but we hope [that] what people see makes them proud,” says Knowles. Grab your family and friends and join us for all the activities as we Light up Blackfalds on November 24!

Please note that Gregg Street, between East Avenue and Broadway Avenue will be closed from 12 noon until after the event. For further details visit the Town website at blackfalds.com/events.
