There is a new head of Crestomere School.

Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) announced on Feb. 17 that Jay Adamson has been appointed principal of the rural hamlet’s school.

“Crestomere is a great community community,” said Adamson, in a press release. “The staff, students, and parents work collaboratively together to providea variety of learning opportunities for the students. I look forward to being able to continue to build strong relationships in the community and to be able to continue to provide diverse and meaningful learning for all students.”

Adamson, who has been serving as acting-principal since 2021, replaces long-serving principal Penny Neufield, who is continuing as part of WCPS in other capacities.

Prior to his time at Crestomere School, Adamson was the assistant principal at Ecole Secondaire Lacombe Composite High School.

Education-wise, Adamson holds a pair of bachelors degrees, a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Physical Education, from the University of Alberta and a master degree, a Masters in teaching and Learning, from Wilkes University.

“Jay has shown exceptional leadership, which has been proven throughout his tenure as acting principal in Crestomere,” said Sonja Dykslag, a WCPS assistant superintendent.

“We know that he will continue to shape the school in a strong direction that will benefit staff and students and strengthen relationships with the school community.”
