Drugs and weapons were found during a routine traffic stop in Lacombe this week.
On March 24 at 3:40 a.m., Lacombe Police Service members conducted a traffic stop on a silver Dodge Durango travelling north on Highway 2A for a provincial traffic violation.
During the traffic stop, police entered into a controlled drugs and substances act investigation and a search of the vehicle was conducted resulting in a quantity of methamphetamine, psilocybin, carfentanil and several weapons being located.
The street value of the combined drugs seized is estimated to be $14,000.
Thomas Jeffrey Houle, 25, of Red Deer, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon contrary to weapons prohibition.
Tasha Lei King, 24 of Red Deer is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Houle and King were brought before a Justice of the Peace and were released on their own recognizance to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 22.
