EnVision Manufacturing & Supply and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District were proud to present Emily Oddsson and Jocelynn Smith with this year’s EnVision Big Brothers Big Sisters Scholarship.

This is the second year EnVision Manufacturing & Supply and Big Brothers Big Sisters have collaborated on these two scholarships.

Oddsson is attending Red Deer Polytechnic and will be studying social work. When asked about her experience, Emily said, “My experience as a mentor with BBBS has been extremely positive and fulfilling. It has not only given me invaluable experience as an emerging social worker, but lifts my spirits every time I meet up with my mentee.

“I am very grateful to be able to have an impact on the future generation of our community. Being a mentor has shown me even the smallest acts of kindness will not go unnoticed. Thank you to BBBS for the experience and to EnVision for help in pursuing my education.”

Smith is also attending Red Deer Polytechnic and is enrolled in the LPN Nursing Program.

“When I first met my mentee, she was very shy but over time, she opened up and I got to see her grow,” she said. “We would play games, go for walks, draw, and so much more. Mentoring really showed me the impact you can have on someone. I am forever grateful for Big Brothers Big Sisters, they truly changed my life.”

Officials with BBBS thanked EnVision for making these scholarships possible.
