The continued growth of the Town of Blackfalds means an increase in those in need.

With the recent early first blast of winter, After the Grind is encouraging residents to help kids stay warm this winter and enjoy a great night out in our community by buying your tickets for the Community Warmth Fall Fundraiser.

“We are extremely proud to be a part of this great local community program. The support we see through this event that directly helps kids in need is inspiring. We couldn’t think of better way to support our community,” says Chris Keim, owner of After the Grind.

Tickets are limited, so get yours today. The Community Warmth Fall Fundraiser is an initiative with After the Grind in conjunction with Blackfalds FCSS that helps to ensure kids in our community have the clothes they need to stay warm through the Central Alberta winter.

This program is key, and timely, to help meet the needs and the overwhelming requests from families and individuals with limited resources who do not have the necessary funds to afford winter clothing for their children.

Many families continue to deal with sharp rising living expenses, unemployment, single parent challenges and other factors that make it difficult to find the means to purchase the clothing needed to stay warm during Alberta’s harsh winters. The most vulnerable among us are children.

Without adequate winter clothing, a child will have a difficult time reaching their full potential. For this year, we would love to be able to outfit over 160 children in need this winter.

“Many families living in poverty struggle to provide necessities like food, housing, clothing and child care. The gift of a brand-new coat offers hope to both children and their parents, reminding them that there are those in the community that care about their well-being and future. The new jacket offers a child both physical and emotional warmth.” a community school teacher said regarding the impact of this program.

It is easy to help out. Simply purchase tickets (or a table) for the After the Grind Community Warmth Fall Fundraiser held at the Blackfalds Community Centre.

For your $30 ticket, you will pay for one child to receive a new winter jacket and in return you get; a great meal, hear some live music by Don Swift, taste some craft beer from Siding 14 Brewery and have some fun bidding on our live dessert auction.

All proceeds go towards the Blackfalds FCSS Winter Wear Program that provides winter coats, snow pants and winter boots to children in need.
