Rounding out this year’s Light Up Lacombe festivities will be a special seasonal performance by Forbeez Theatre Group at the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre.
Forbeez Christmas Cheer runs Nov. 26, starting at 7 p.m.
Tickets are free and are available from LacombePAC.com or the Mary C. Moore Public Library, said Alison Forbes, who created the group along with her husband Ross.
“It’s another performance for the kids, so it’s a great experience for them. For some of them, it will also be their first time onstage in front of a group of people,” said Alison, noting that after the troupe had such a blast in last year’s Light Up Lacombe parade, it just seemed right to be involved again with this year’s event.
“We are really keen to give back to the community, and to be involved in the community,” she said.
To that end, there is no charge to attend Forbeez Christmas Cheer.
“This community has been so, so supportive of us,” she said, noting that this year’s earlier mainstage production was sold out.
“To get that level of support in our first year was astonishing.”
The Christmas performance will include such holiday classics as Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Winter Wonderland for starters.
“I’ve also choreographed two dances for Jingles Bells and Rudolph.”
Santa will be making an appearance, too, in quite a few of the numbers.
The kids will be sharing some Christmas poems penned by her husband, and will also be acting out The Night Before Christmas.
“We will also be going to a seniors’ home in Lacombe and perform for them, too.
“I absolutely love the holiday season. it’s just so magical, and that is what I’m looking forward to. With the kids, we will all be able to create a bit of Christmas magic, too,” she said.
“We called it Forbeez Christmas Cheer because I want to be able to give those who come to the show some of those warm, fuzzy feelings and a bit of that Christmas magic - that’s what I’m hoping for.”
In the meantime, rehearsals are continuing for the troupe’s spring production of Treasure Island, which will hit the LPAC stage in April.
Again, tickets for Forbeez Christmas Cheer are free and are available from LacombePAC.com or the Mary C. Moore Public Library.
