Four people were taken to hospital after a collision on Wednesday afternoon on Highway 21 south of Trochu.
Three Hills RCMP says the collision happened about 1:30 p.m. about two kilometres south of the junction to Highway 27 west. Police, firefighters from Three Hills and Trochu, a ground ambulance and STARS helicopter were on scene.
Police said their early investigation indicates a pickup truck was travelling southbound behind a semi truck when the pickup crossed the centre line. The pickup collided head-on with a northbound pickup pulling a travel trailer, which hit the semi truck.
Guard rails kept all vehicles on the highway, however Highway 21 was blocked and traffic was being re-routed.
A 43-year-old Lacombe man driving the southbound pickup was transported by STARS to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 41-year-old lone male driver of the semi-truck, of Mannville, Alta., was transported by ground ambulance to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 69-year-old male driver and 78-year-old female passenger, both of Three Hills, in the northbound pickup were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
