Joint agency traffic operation nets impaired driving arrest

Ponoka Integrated Traffic Services and members of the Ponoka Detachment along with Lacombe County peace officers and CN Rail police, conducted traffic enforcement initiatives on June 23.

Traffic enforcement was conducted in the Ponoka County, Morningside and Lacombe boundary areas.

Over the course of the afternoon, 50 mandatory alcohol screening demands were made, resulting in one arrest for impaired driving and two additional alcohol-related driving suspensions being issued. Two warrants of arrest were executed.

There were also 17 tickets for moving and non moving violations issued, three commercial vehicle inspections were conducted and 13 warnings were issued for additional minor violations.

“We value the collaboration of our law enforcement partners and the joint efforts to keep our roads safe though community visibility, education and enforcement activities,” said Ponoka RCMP detachment commander Staff Sgt. Chris Smiley.
