Lacombe Business and Community Awards Gala this week

Large and small busisness of the year will be announced at event

The 2021 Lacombe & District Chamber of Commerce Awards will be handed out at the annual Business and Community Awards Gala this evening.

This year, due to COVID, the event will be held at four seperate locations around Lacombe with digital streams of the nominees and awards.

Local businesses and individuals are nominated throughout May, June and July, once nominations are made, a selection committee reviews the nominations and selects businesses in the categories of Business of the Year, Farm Family of the Year, and Not-for-Profit of the Year.

Three individuals from the community are also recognized through Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, and the People’s Choice for Customer Service.

This year, the winner of the Lifetime Achievement award is Linda Kempt, Citizen of the Year is Diane Hayduk and Attema Farms was named Farm Family of the Year.

Mary C. Moore Public Library was awarded the Customer Service Award for businesses, and Nadine Waterfield, Gift Smack Gift Company won the Individual Customer Service Award. Lacombe Performing Arts Centre Foundation won Not-for-Profit of the Year.

Nominees for Large Business are Dancers Edge Studio and Nowco Home Hardware. For Small Business, The First Step Adult Education Center, Moe’s Pizza Co. and Dutchess Flower Company. Winners of those categories will be announced on Oct. 21 at the annual Business and Community Awards Gala.
