Consent agenda

(A consent agenda allows the board to approve all these items together without discussion or individual motions).

Council approved the consent agenda package, which included councillor reports, administrative reports, commission, board and committee reports, the adoption of the previous meeting’s minutes, and the council mailbox.

The consent agenda also included the cancellation of the following council meetings on June 22, July 25, and August 8, 2022.

Echo economic development strategy

Council received a presentation from Echo Lacombe Association President, Jared Reich on the strategy.

Overview of property assessment in Alberta

Rodney Vikse, AMAA and Ken Waters AACI, P. App presented an “overview of property assessment in Alberta,” to council.

Land use bylaw amendment auto body and paint shop

A public hearing was held after council previously had given first reading to bylaw 400.38 to allow “autobody and paint shop,” as a permitted use. The location of this property is 7102 52 Street.

A request was made to council to amend the land use bylaw to allow a paint and autobody shop in a bay of a multi‐bay building in the university commercial district (UC).

Planning and development staff prepared bylaw 400.38 to give effect to the request. Consideration of this request follows approval in April 2020 of Bylaw 400.29, which allowed a paint and autobody shop in this location temporarily for two years, until May 1st, 2022.

Council amended Bylaw 400.38 to allow a five‐year extension to the use, so item 1b reads: adding “autobody and paint shop in unit 11, up to May 1, 2027,” to the list of permitted uses. Council subsequently gave second reading to bylaw 400.38 as amended.

Labour

Council approved the request to review the wage adjustment for Lacombe Police Service members.

Council further approved the removal of the current negotiated increase of 1 per cent, Jan. 1, 2022, and 1 per cent July 1, 2022, and amend to an increment of 2.2 per cent effective Jan. 1, 2022.

The next scheduled council meetings: is April 25 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. The next council committee of the whole meeting is at 5:30 p.m.at City Hall on May 2.
