Lacombe eateries featured in this year’s ‘Alberta on the Plate’ campaign

Several eateries in Lacombe and other local communities are taking part in the fifth annual Alberta on the Plate dine-around festival Aug. 11- 20.

More than 100 eateries in 27 communities across the province featuring over 200 farms and producers are highlighted in this year’s event.

Lacombe restaurants to be featured this year include Cilantro+Chive, Blindman Brewing, and Moe’s Pizza Co.

“This slate of participating establishments showcases the local flavors that influence each region of the province,” said Rheannon Green, director of Finer Details with Food Tourism Strategies.

“From the Indigenous peoples who shaped our land to the immigration influences of the French, Ukrainian, Chinese, and Vietnamese, the Alberta terroir is shaped by the people as much as by the land which is reflected in the diversity of the restaurants, food products, and culinary creators across Alberta.”

‘Alberta on the Plate’ is a province-wide dine-around where participating establishments offer fixed-price menus highlighting local producers, growers, distillers, and brewers.

The program is about fostering relationships between foodservice operators and local farms and producers to create a more sustainable local food economy.

It also connects consumers with the bounty of products being grown, raised, and processed in Alberta, while supporting the local food and drink establishments that put Alberta on the plate and in the glass every single day, officials say.
