Lacombe FCSS encouraging seniors to get ‘back to play’

Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services (Lacombe FCSS) is encouraging senior residents to ‘get back to play,’ during this year’s Senior’s Week which runs June 6 to 10.

Lacombe and District Family and Community Support Services (Lacombe FCSS) is encouraging senior residents to ‘get back to play,’ during this year’s Senior’s Week which runs June 6 to 10.

Lacombe FCSS, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening and enhancing families and the community will be hosting programs all week that are centred around getting back out in the community and getting active.

It will begin with an FCSS afternoon at the movies. Field of Dreams will be showing at Lacombe City Cinemas at 1:30 p.m.

Other events include chair yoga, walking groups with trained dogs, water fitness, potlucks, painting and drop-in coffee.

The week will end with an outdoor BBQ at the Lacombe Seniors Lodge. Daniel ‘Jukebox’ Leigh will be providing entertainment. His show consists of a vast repertoire of number one covers and some cool originals. He has opened for Dr. Hook, Raul Malo of The Mavericks, Kim Mitchell, and is currently performing throughout Alberta.

He describes himself as an entertainer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, game-show host, and party leader who believes in the power and freedom of music.
