‘Living Free’ is a motivational event coming to the Lacombe Memorial Centre’s Lacombe County room in order to help raise funds for the Mary C. Moore Library.

Marco Ste. Marie, pastor from St. Andrews United Church in Lacombe, will be speaking on April 4th about ways to live with doubt, guilt and learning to forgive others. The speech will be accompanied by Jordan Galloway, who will be playing a selection on country music songs to go along with the talk.

Ste. Marie said the talk is for anyone who is looking to live a more fulfilling life

“It is really about letting go of the burdens we are not meant to carry,” he said. “I am the minister here at St. Andrews, but I am not making this a preaching evening or a spiritual evening — although it will have components of that.

“The overall theme of the evening and the songs will be about letting go.”

Ste. Marie said that his time as a pastor has taught him that many people in the community are holding on to negative emotions that are not useful to them.

“Sometimes it is about understanding the things we can’t change and understanding that we can change our own perception on things,” he said. “We sometimes have a self-imposed prison or cage and we don’t realize that the door is actually open and has been the whole time. We just imagine it to be shut. When we realize it is open, we can get out of our self-imposed burdens.

“The theme is realizing that we are carrying burdens that aren’t actually for us to carry.”

Ste. Marie is excited to be able to support the library and sees the value of it everyday through his work.

“First of all, I love learning and reading,” he said. “The library is something that is used by many of our volunteers for research and also working with children. It seems like we aren’t reading as much or that we are not as inclined to get knowledge.

“Resources like the library are vital and it is important we keep that alive. Every time I go there, there is people on the computers, people reading and children playing in children’s corner. I want to see that library thrive and be here for a long time.”

The show will run April 4th from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with all proceeds going to the Friends of Library. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Mary C. Moore Library.

Ste Marie added, “I think everyone can benefit and even if you feel you don’t have something to gain from the evening, you will be surprised after the evening is over how much you will learn and understand.”
