Following an armed robbery that occurred at a liquor store in Ponoka on July 14, the Ponoka RCMP have identified two suspects and charges have been laid. Public assistance is being requested to locate one of the males, and identify the remaining two suspects.
At 10:16 p.m., the RCMP responded to a call about the armed robbery. Information provided was that four unknown males entered the store. One male had bear spray and he demanded money from the till. The other three males grabbed bottles of liquor, and all fled from the store. No bear spray was deployed, and the store clerk was not injured.
Two of the males involved in this robbery were identified by the Ponoka RCMP. Charges were laid and warrants of arrest issued.
On July 24, one of the males, Brandon Alexander Morin of Samson First Nation, was arrested in Maskwacis by a Leduc RCMP General Investigation Section member. He is facing one charge of Robbery. At the time of his arrest, he was on release conditions, so he is also charged with fail to comply with conditions of an Undertaking.
A judicial interim release hearing was conducted and Morin was released to attend court on August 16, 2019 in Ponoka.
27-year-old Donovan Rain of Samson First Nation has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of disobeying an order of the court. He has not been located and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
He is described as 5’9” tall, 181 lbs., First Nations, sporting a goatee and has a tattoo under both his right and left eye.
The other two suspects have not yet been identified by the RCMP.
