No one could have asked for a better Blackfalds Days weekend.

From June 13-15th, Blackfalds held its annual celebration jam-packed with events and saw support from the community for the festival. The bulk of the Blackfalds Days events took place on the Saturday of the weekend.

As residents and visitors lined up, the sun was shining and promising favourable weather for the Blackfalds Days parade.

This year’s Blackfalds Days also featured the 10th Annual Oldies Show & Shine & BBQ. Classic cars rolled out to Highway Ave. and collectors, car enthusiasts and anyone else with an interest in classic cars enjoyed the selection of restored and modified collectors’ vehicles both new and old.

its popular debut last year, the Humans Versus Zombies (HVZ) event returned. HVZ is a giant of tag where zombies try to convert humans and humans try to hide, evade and repel zombies foam weapons.

Also returning this year after a hiatus were the midway carnival rides at All Star Park. As with the parade, midway goers could not have asked for better weather and the sunny Saturday ensured riders would be able to enjoy the rides.

It wouldn’t be a summer festival without fireworks of course, and Blackfalds Days was no exception. After sundown on Saturday, Blackfalds Days topped off its celebrations with a fantastic reworks show. After Saturday, Blackfalds Days wound down with the Community Church Service, wrapping up of the slo-pitch tournament and midway and having toonie admission to the Abbey Centre.
