No fire advisory or ban in place within Lacombe city limits

Lacombe County has imposed a fire advisory within the county

Effective April 29, 2020, Lacombe County has imposed a “Fire Advisory” within the county, given the current warm and dry weather conditions.

Please note that there is no advisory or ban in place within the city of Lacombe. Residents are still permitted to avail of a backyard fire pit, outdoor fireplace, stationary and portable barbecues as long as they are within the regulations set out in section 13 of the City of Lacombe Fire Services Bylaw #389. See below for requirements:

  • Must be located in a rear yard with a minimum of 3.4 meters (10 feet) clearance from buildings, property lines and combustible materials
  • Be constructed of bricks or concrete blocks, or heavy gauge metal, or other suitable non- combustible components;
  • Have a spark arrestor mesh screen of 1.20 centimetres (.50 inches) expanded metal (or equivalent) to contain sparks over the fire at all times
  • Be the sole responsibility of the owner or tenant of the property
  • Be supervised at all times by a responsible adult over the age of 18 until such time as the fire is completely extinguished;
  • Only burn clean untreated wood, charcoal briquettes, propane or natural gas
  • Have flames no higher that 90 centimetres (3.28 feet) above the fire pit or barbecue fire box.

We remind all residents that during the enjoyment of a backyard fire to also be mindful of your neighbors and to ensure that you are not causing a nuisance to them.
