A 16-year-old girl is dead after a six-vehicle collision on Hwy 21 and Township Road 474 near Camrose Wednesday evening.

According to RCMP, preliminary investigation suggests that on June 27 at about 6 p.m. three northbound vehicles had slowed for traffic ahead as vehicles in front had slowed to make a left turn. A northbound box truck collided with this line of traffic from behind. The resulting impact forced two middle vehicles in between the lead vehicle and the box truck and sent vehicles left of centre that were then struck by two south bound vehicles.

Hwy 21 between Township Roads 472 and 480 south of Armena Hamlet were impassable until Thursday morning.

Camrose police say several others were injured and three were transported to area hospitals in serious condition.

The investigation into the collision remains under investigation. No charges have been laid at this time.

Camrose RCMP are asking if there is any witnesses to the collision who have yet to come forward to please contact them at 780-672-3341.
