Clive family and community support services (FCSS) in partnership with the Clive Library will be hosting Dr. Jody Carrington on June 9 to discuss parenting during these unprecedented times.

Dr. Jody Carrington is a psychologist, author and speaker on a mission to start a re-connection revolution.

Kathy Schultz, Clive FCSS community outreach coordinator said that Dr. Carrington brings humour into discussions about relationships and life and the connections we have. She was previously set to speak on two separate occasions but had to postpone due to COVID.

During her events, she shares her expertise, energy and approach with others to help them solve their most complex human-centred challenges.

Marti Piller, chief operating officer with Dr. Carrington’s team said that this particular talk will be about parenting during these unprecedented times and learning to connect and reconnect with our kids, families, friends and communities after being disconnected for so long.

“Reconnecting to our families and communities is important more now than ever as we have been so disconnected for too long,” said Piller adding that there will also be topics that attendees can bring back to their communities.

“So many of us forget what it’s like and how much it means for us to connect with one another face to face. We all need human connection, even if it’s just a wave, compliment, or smile, you never know what that small gesture will do in someone’s day for them and you.”

Her team said that her approach is authentic, honest and often hilarious. She speaks passionately about resilience, mental health, leadership, burnout, grief and trauma and how reconnection is the answer to so many of the root problems we face.

Dr. Carrington will be speaking on June 9, at 7 p.m. at the Clive School. Tickets are $45 and are available on eventbrite.com. For more information contact Clive FCSS at 403-784-2020 or the Clive Library at 403-784-3131.
