An adult female died at the scene of a rollover in Lacombe County on Jan. 27.
At 3:33 p.m., Ponoka Integrated Traffic Unit and Ponoka RCMP responded to a 911 call of a single vehicle collision on the Hwy. 2 southbound at the Hwy. 2A access overpass.
The collision resulted in the death of the female, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Emergency crews responded and she was pronounced deceased.
Investigation indicates that an SUV was travelling southbound and the driver lost control, entering the ditch. The vehicle rolled in the west ditch, where it came to rest.
Although southbound traffic was slowed, it was not diverted while the scene was investigated. The RCMP cleared the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Indications are that icy road conditions may have been a contributing factor to the collision. It remains under investigation and no further updates will be provided.
